I was raised on a mixed beef farm north of Westlock, with two sisters, Jessica and Briana, by our parents, Rod and Janet. There was hard work and fun times on the farm, and it grew my passion and love for the ag industry. I completed a degree in Animal Science from the UofA and went on to build a career with Corteva Agriscience, managing canola and corn research plots. I purchased a farm in Athabasca County, with my husband, and we’ve expanded the family’s cow-calf operation, as well as the butchering side of the farm-direct meat sales.
The opportunity to join GRO’s staff was a great fit being closer to home, family, and my farm. Since starting in November, I’ve enjoyed learning about GRO’s operations, research and demos, helping producers, and planning and hosting events. I’m excited to keep learning and strengthening GRO to ensure its continued support of local producers.

I grew up and farmed in the Lloydminster area. I decided to take the Turf Management program at Fairview College. I joined GRO in 2015, after 25 years of working on and managing golf courses. I’ve been responsible for plot setup and maintenance, as well as equipment maintenance (and fabrication when necessary).
I enjoy spending time with the grandkids in the mountains and on the lakes. I look forward to spending more time with them in the future.

I have a deep passion for agriculture, rooted in my upbringing on a mixed crop and dairy farm in Punjab, India. Growing up in this environment sparked my interest in farming, prompting me to pursue a BSc in Agriculture. My thirst for knowledge then led me to Canada, where I earned an Agribusiness Diploma from Lakeland College.
I became part of GRO in 2019, as a Summer Research Technician, and have become a key member of the team.
I am excited about supporting the growth and sustainability of agricultural communities. There is so much potential to improve practices and help farmers overcome challenges, and I look forward to contributing to the success of local communities. It is a journey I am eager to be part of.

I was raised on a mixed farm near Vermilion, with my grandparents, parents, and brother. We harvested grass with purebred Horned Hereford, Limo, and Speckle Park cattle, while also growing silage, hay, feed grain and seed oats. I was heavily involved in 4-H, and between that and watching my parents’ involvement in various industry and community organizations, I was inspired to complete a B.Sc. Agriculture at the U of A, before going to work for AB Agriculture with both the 4-H and Green Certificate programs.
Joining GRO in the spring of 2023 was an exciting opportunity to work in a different aspect of the industry and to learn from and share knowledge with local producers. I look forward to continuing to support GRO’s efforts to reach more producers with information to help them make sound decisions for their own operations.

I was born and raised on a mixed farm (primarily cow calf) in Barrhead, Alberta, where my passion for agriculture first took root. My passion for agriculture continued to grow during my adolescent years by showing purebred Simmental cattle and being actively involved in 4-H. I earned my diploma in Agricultural Management from Olds College, with a focus on production, which helped deepen my knowledge of livestock and equipment operations.
After serving on the Board of Directors for GRO, I’m proud to now be part of the team. I enjoy working directly with producers and contributing to hands-on research that makes a difference in the field. I’m especially passionate about practical solutions that improve productivity while supporting long-term sustainability. I look forward to meeting more of our local producers and am always happy to talk about cattle, crops, or anything agriculture-related.

One thing working at GRO has taught me is that there is always something new to learn. I’m excited to be back for my third summer at GRO and to continue to learn! My roots in agriculture go back to my family’s grain farm in the Tiger Lily/Camp Creek area. I was a member of the T&M Multi 4-H Club for nine years before taking the Green Certificate program for crop production in high school. I’m looking forward to attending Olds College this fall for the Agricultural Management program, and I hope to one day get my B.Sc. in Agriculture.

This is my first summer being a part of the GRO team! I grew up in Peace River and just graduated from the U of A with a degree in wildlife and range management. Throughout my degree, I developed a strong appreciation for the important role plants play in our environment, especially as a source of food for both human and wildlife consumption. This is one of many reasons why I wanted to work for GRO this summer!
Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, golfing and photography as well as spending time with my horse, Frosty, and my dog, Luna!

I hold a M.Sc. in Soil Science from the U of A, along with a M.Sc. in Microbiology from my home country. My work and studies have focused on soil health, soil microbes, and sustainable agricultural practices. I’ve had the chance to work in both the lab and field as a research and farm supervisor, and I enjoy bridging scientific research with real-world farming.
I love travelling and learning about new languages and cultures. I’m also passionate about trading (especially short term strategies) and I enjoy the challenge and focus it brings. Whether agriculture or markets, I’m always looking for patterns, systems, and ways to improve.

I’m excited to be back for my second year as part of the GRO team! I grew up in the Barrhead area and, while I was involved in 4-H, I didn’t have direct involvement in agriculture. However, my family and friends surrounded me with it.
Studying statistics at the U of C, my passion for research led me to GRO. I’m excited to work in research with an ag context. My experiences last year provided insight on data collection and the importance of good data to meaningful statistics. I look forward to helping GRO maintain its’ excellent reputation for producing good data.
